The Joint Learning Initiative on Children and HIV/AIDS (JLICA):The SSRC, in cooperation with UNICEF, Harvard University, the Bernard Van Leer Foundation and FXB is supporting a Joint Learning Initiative on Children and HIV/AIDS (JLICA). JLICA is a global research initiative which engages practitioners, policymakers and scholars in collaborative problem-solving, research and analysis to address the needs of children affected by HIV/AIDS. The Initiative aims to: (1) gather and assess scientific evidence on operational, political and public policy issues related to children and HIV/AIDS, as well as document experiential knowledge emerging from communities of practice; (2) engender multi-disciplinary and inter-sectoral interaction and synthesis that stimulates innovative thinking and problem solving, while engaging new expertise; and (3) facilitate linkages among practitioners, policymakers and scholars to examine evidence and forge consensus on what needs to be done, how and by whom.
