EarthCare
Africa (Ecaf)
The institute facilitates action for policy analysis and environment by linking
policymakers, government and NGO's, industry, research groups and community
groups.
Environmental Development Action in the
Third World (ENDA)
ENDA works with grassroots groups on the basis of their needs and objectives,
contributes to the search for alternative development possibilities at all
levels, and supports a variety of training schemes.
International
Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF)
The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry works to mitigate
tropical deforestation, land depletion and rural poverty through improved
agroforestry systems. Its goal is to initiate and assist in the generation and
dissemination of appropriate agroforestry technologies for resource-poor
farmers and other land users.
National Research Foundation
(NRF)
The objective of the National Research Foundation is to support and promote
research through funding, human resource development, and the provision of the
necessary research facilities, in order to facilitate the creation of
knowledge, innovation and development in all fields of science and
technology.
Pastoral and Environmental
Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA)
The Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa works to eliminate
poverty among the pastoralists in the Horn of Africa through the empowerment of
communities and the fostering of sustainable and dignified livestock-based and
non-livestock-based livelihoods.
Rural
Development Forestry Institute (RDFN)
The Rural Development Forestry Network is an important component of the
outreach programme of the Forest Policy and Environment Group (FPEG). The
Network disseminates information on key issues in tropical forestry aiming to
influence policy and decision-makers (about 30% of its membership) in both
governments and international aid agencies. To do this it disseminates
information provided by its strong base in the research community (about 37% of
its membership), which is validated by the day-to-day project experience of the
Network's NGO and consultancy members (about 30% of its membership). Over the
years, members have received a thematic set of papers twice yearly including
policy reviews and case studies.
Southern African Center for
Cooperation in Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Training
(SACCAR)
SACCAR was established in 1984 by the Southern African Development Community
(SADC) to coordinate agricultural and natural resources research, and training
activities and to promote cooperation between member states in these
fields.
