On March 10, 2006, the ACLS/SSRC Working Group on Cuba along with the Christopher Reynolds Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation convened a meeting in New York to discuss the future of U.S.-Cuba environmental collaboration. Bringing together representatives from U.S.-based organizations, the one-day workshop served as an opportunity to share with our colleagues the work that is being done and to determine ways we can broaden our impact, in light of increasing political tension between the U.S. and Cuban governments. It is our hope that this forum will strengthen the impact of these organizations and aid in the creation of a more effective environmental agenda. Participants included representatives from the following organizations: Environmental Defense, Wildlife Conservation Society, Brookfield Zoo, World Wildlife Fund-Canada, International Crane Foundation, Platte River Whooping Crane Maintenance Trust, Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, Tulane Law School, Harte Research Institute, Universidad Metropolitana, and Mote Marine Laboratory.
