"Conflicts and Domination over Social Space in Post-Reunification East Berlin"

My current project concerns territorial struggles involving various local groups in today’s East Germany, and particularly in the eastern parts of Berlin. It seeks to understand the violence-based techniques through which these groups produce particular forms of social spaces, placing these processes in the historical context of post-unification Germany and neoliberal Europe, and examining the articulation of such struggles with the multiple and heterogeneous forces invested in Berlin’s space. At the same time, it aims to explain how space itself becomes generative of particular forms of political mobilization, ideological orientations, and practices of domination.
