Peter Smith has been the religion writer for The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky since 2000. With 19 years of experience as a journalist, he has worked as a correspondent for Religion News Service in Europe and North America and has written for the The Boston Globe, MSNBC, Self Magazine, Modern Maturity, The Lutheran, The Boston Phoenix, The Prague Post and other publications. He was the recipient of the American Academy of Religion's award for Best In-Depth News Reporting on Religion in 2002. A 1985 graduate of Oral Roberts University, he is currently a student in the Master's of Arts and Religion program at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
