The project, organized by William J. Drake and Ernest J. Wilson of the Center for International Development and Conflict Management at the University of Maryland, explores non-US interests regarding the international governance of global electronic networks. Particular attention is devoted to the concerns of developing countries and global civil society organizations. The project seeks to bridge the gaps between scholars in different disciplines, scholars and policy practitioners, and US and international perspectives, in order to contribute to the current dialogue on improving global governance. The project has two components: First, a pair of workshops bringing together scholars and practitioners from around the world were held in Budapest, Hungary in November 2002 with the generous support of the Ford Foundation and the Open Society Institute. Second, Drake and Wilson edited a volume of papers published in 2004 as part of their MIT Press book series, 'The Information Revolution and Global Politics.'
