The Information Technology and International Cooperation program hosted a seminar called "Ownership, Stewardship and Property in a Digital Age: Expanding the Conversation" on January 22, 2003. The seminar, the first in a series of two, is part of Dr. Steve Weber's project on Open Source and the Political Economy of Cooperation in the Information Revolution. Weber, and his collaborator Dr. Shari Cohen, hope to broaden what has been a fairly limited and technical discussion about property and community in the digital era. They are doing this by bringing together lawyers and policy experts who are involved in the contemporary debate over intellectual property with people who understand how different kinds of communities -- religious, ethnic and others -- have confronted issues of community ownership, intellectual property, and stewardship.
