Published on: Jan 04, 2004

The Information Technology and International Cooperation (ITIC) program held its first policy workshop in Washington, DC on January 22, 2002. The workshop was led by Dr. Ernest J. Wilson of the Center for International Development and Conflict Management at the University of Maryland. The purpose of the workshop was to bring scholars together with policymakers to discuss key issues and research needs in this area. The meeting brought together participants from the program steering committee, the National Intelligence Council, the US Council on International Business, National Security Agency and policy consulting firms to discuss information technology's roles in national security, international security, and international economy in light of the events of September 11. The group was particularly concerned with how the SSRC could help generate knowledge on governance issues as well comparisons across countries and global regions.
