The Social Science Research Council has long been committed to interdisciplinary inquiry, and to the notion that the dialogue between the humanities and social sciences is essential to comprehensive understanding of the world around us. The projects promoted in this area highlighted issues that require the attention of anthropologists and historians as well as political scientists, sociologists, cultural critics and literary theorists.
